If you haven't noticed, we've launched a 14 Day Heart Strong Challenge for you and a partner to tackle in the hopes of winning some awesome prizes. And it is definitely not too late to join in on the fun.
But why a buddy program?
Especially considering the fact that you can't attend group junctions at the moment, you have probably been finding different ways to interact with others virtually. We do it here at Weighting For Warriors with our group Zoom classes. It's why you went to in-person group classes before the pandemic. We work harder when we are surrounded by others working hard.
We know how hard it is to motivate yourself sometimes, so we created the Heart Strong challenge to help you connect to someone with similar fitness goals.
Accountability is a word often thrown around in the health world. If you want to achieve your goals, you have to hold yourself accountable to taking the steps to get there. Having someone else to share your goals only increases the incentive to keep going.
When you partner up with someone, you significantly increase your chances of sticking to your plan. You don't want to let them down. and in doing so you refuse to let yourself down.
It's so much more difficult to talk yourself out of a workout if someone has planned to be right there with you. your accountability buddy can be your significant other, friend, family member, classmate, or someone you met at the gym before COVID.
Try to pick someone with similar goals to yours and who won't quit easily. There will be days they'll want to quit and you'll have to say "no, we can do this," so make sure it's someone you're comfortable with. Accountability goes both ways.
So don't be shy—grab your partner and agree to join our challenge. It's just 15 minutes a day: Y'all got this.
